PAINT DECONTAMINATION

A Miracle Detailing strives to obtain a truly clean paint surface with both chemical and mechanical paint decontamination before beginning the paint correction and polishing process.

Paint decontamination is one of the most important and major components in preparation for a more enhanced end result. We use a thorough 2-3 stage decontamination process, both chemical and mechanical, to insure the paint surface is clean and free of all airborne contaminants that a vehicle encounters on a daily basis.

WHAT IS PAINT DECONTAMINATION?

Paint decontamination is the process of removing embedded contaminants in the paint such as airborne compounds, industrial fallout, rail dust, ferrous (iron containing) particles, paint overspray etc. that are embedded into the paint.

No matter how protected and slick feeling the paint surface is, airborne contaminants gradually accumulate on paintwork. Some contaminants may come off with washing. Other contaminants can penetrate and bond into the paint surface.

_____

Step 1 - Iron Fallout - Chemical removal.

This step is for industrial fallout from Ferric Iron Oxide contamination. Ferrous particles include, vehicle brakes, trains, metal fallout etc. If left unattended, these lodged iron particles will begin to corrode and cause damage to your paintwork.

_____

Step 2 - Mineral deposit - Chemical removal.

This step is to remove minerals that stick to the paintwork. This paint contamination is caused when moisture gets on the paint surface. When the sun evaporates the water it leaves behind deposited minerals that stick to the paint surface.

_____

Step 3 - Clay bar - Mechanical removal.

This step is for removal of embedded contaminants. Multiple products are used in this process from a unique lubricant infused with surfactants & solvents designed to reduce friction, polymerized rubber decon towels & ultra-fine clay bars.

_____

Decontamination of the paint surface is critical to proper auto paint care. Increased traffic levels, and pollution have made paint contamination a rapidly growing problem. All contaminants need to be removed before polishing the paintwork.
